The BTEC Program at Summit International Academy

A Future-Focused Pathway for Skilled, Confident, Career-Ready Graduates

Summit International Academy (SIA) is proud to be an officially accredited Pearson BTEC International Center—a distinction awarded in March 2020 by Pearson Education UK. This accreditation authorizes SIA to deliver the globally recognized Pearson BTEC International Level 2 & 3 Diplomas, as well as the Pearson BTEC (Jordan Project) qualifications for the national track. Today, SIA stands as one of Jordan’s leading schools offering high-quality vocational education aligned with international standards.

What is the BTEC Program?

BTEC—short for Business and Technology Education Council—is an internationally recognized vocational qualification adopted in more than 70 countries worldwide. Unlike traditional exam-based education, BTEC programs are designed around hands-on projects, real-world assignments, teamwork, practical skills, and continuous assessment.

SIA offers two types of BTEC pathways:

  1. Pearson BTEC International (English Curriculum)

Delivered entirely in English and aligned with international qualification frameworks.

  1. Pearson BTEC (Jordan Project)

Delivered in Arabic and approved by Pearson specifically for the Jordanian national system, with Ministry of Education equivalency.

Who Can Join the BTEC Program at SIA?

Students can begin BTEC in Grade 10 (Level 2) and continue through Grades 11 and 12 (L3).

  • Level 2 (Grade 10): 480 guided learning hours
  • Level 3 (Grades 11–12): 720 guided learning hours

Throughout the three years, students complete projects, assignments, case studies, and practical tasks that help them develop strong technical and professional skills.

BTEC Specializations Offered at Summit International Academy

Students at SIA can choose from a wide range of career-oriented fields, including: Business +  (IT) + Engineering. Each specialization includes numerous units designed to equip students with industry-relevant knowledge and competencies.

Curriculum

Primary Stage at Summit International Academy

The Primary Stage (Grades 1–6) at Summit International Academy provides a strong academic foundation that supports students’ intellectual, social, and personal growth. Our program combines national educational standards with modern teaching methodologies to ensure that every child receives a balanced, high-quality learning experience.

Key Features of the Primary Program:

  • Comprehensive National Curriculum
The Primary Stage follows the Jordanian Ministry of Education curriculum, offering students a solid academic base in core subjects while ensuring alignment with national standards.

  • Arabic as the Main Medium of Instruction
Most subjects are delivered in Arabic to strengthen students’ language skills and deepen their understanding of local culture and identity.

  • Enhanced English Language Program
Students benefit from an advanced English program that gradually builds strong reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills.

  • Bilingual Instruction in Selected Subjects
Certain subjects in specific grades are taught in both Arabic and English to support bilingual proficiency and prepare students for future academic pathways.

  • Religious Studies
Islamic Studies for Muslim students and optional Christian Studies for Christian students are offered in accordance with the Ministry of Education guidelines, supporting spiritual and ethical development.

  • Smooth Transition to Secondary Education
Grade 6 serves as a transitional year, bridging the primarily Arabic-medium Primary Stage with the Secondary Stage, where instruction becomes more English-focused.

  • Support for Non-Arabic Speakers
Students whose primary language is not Arabic can successfully join the Primary Program and develop proficiency in both languages with the support of additional tutoring when needed.

  • Pathway to Bilingual Excellence
Native Arabic-speaking students who complete our Primary Program are well-prepared to enter the Secondary Stage with strong Arabic skills and a solid command of English—equipping them for local or international academic options.

Secondary Program (Grades 7–12)

At Summit International Academy, the Secondary Program provides a strong college-preparatory pathway designed to equip students with the academic excellence, language proficiency, and global awareness necessary for higher education and future careers.

Key Features of the Secondary Program:

  • Comprehensive Academic Curriculum
The secondary curriculum follows the standards of the Jordanian Ministry of Education while integrating modern teaching strategies, project-based learning, and international academic practices that prepare students for university-level study.

  • English-Medium Instruction
Most subjects are taught primarily in English, ensuring students develop strong academic language skills.
Arabic Language remains a core requirement for all students, with placement based on each student’s native language and proficiency level.

  • Balanced Focus on Social Sciences
Students study global history, regional studies, and civic education to build awareness of both local heritage and global perspectives.

  • Religious Education
Islamic Studies is required for Muslim students, while Christian students may take Christian Studies. Both subjects follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are delivered in either Arabic or English depending on the student’s background.

  • Advanced Academic Pathways
To strengthen university readiness, students may prepare for international standardized exams such as the SAT, as well as advanced subject exams (e.g., AP or similar recognized qualifications), depending on their chosen academic stream.

  • University and Career Readiness
Graduates of the Summit International Academy Secondary Program meet the admission requirements for universities in Jordan and abroad. The program promotes critical thinking, research skills, digital literacy, and strong communication abilities that ensure students are well prepared for future success.
